Classification

According to their application, they are classified into industrial grade and food grade.

The impurity content is relatively high (such as sulfides, heavy metals), mainly meeting the chemical stability requirements for industrial use, and does not need to comply with food hygiene standards.

Food grade:

It should comply with national food safety standards (such as GB 1888-2014), with extremely low impurity content, and strictly limited harmful substances such as heavy metals to ensure no harm to the human body 13.

During the production process, food grade raw materials should be used to avoid chemical pollution, and no ammonia smell residue will remain after decomposition.

Application

Agriculture:

Ammonium bicarbonate is a widely used ammonium nitrogen fertilizer, containing approximately 17.7% nitrogen. It releases nutrients through decomposition into NH₃, CO₂, and H₂O, and is utilized as a “gas fertilizer” in agricultural practices.

Food Industry:

Food additives, such as leavening agents, are commonly used in the baking of cookies and other pastries.
